The Beauty of Bruneau

Idaho has a lot of hidden gems that have little to no people and breathtaking beauty. One of these places is Bruneau. Most people know about the Bruneau Sand Dunes which are incredible but there is more to this area then people realize. About a 50 minute drive further you can find yourself out in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road which leads to a stunning canyon.

If you want a little bit more of an adventurous aspect besides a long dirt road, then here is a little fun extra piece. Before you get to the canyon will have to drive past a warning sign that says "this road crosses US Air Force bombing range for the next 12 miles. Objects may fall from aircraft"... adds to the fun right?

Now...here is the stunning canyon.

After taking a trip to the canyon, it doesn't hurt to drive back and head to the sand dunes and enjoy the sunset.

During the summer the Bruneau Sand Dunes Observatory hosts a talk, and a stargazing event every weekend. You can look through the giant telescope and see the stars up close. This month Jupiter is extra close so we were able to see the its 4 moons.

It wouldn't be a successful stargazing night without some star photography now would it? Here are some of the photos I got in spite of some light interference.
