Germany

Germany was unfortunately a quick stop. We had lunch in a historical city called Cologne. Here there is a giant cathedral that is black, caused by the industrial revolution. We got some views of the city by the river, went to a restaurant for our first authentic German meal: sausage, fries and a beer. I am not much of a beer person, but German beer was actually quite good.

We then moved on to where we were spending most of our time in Germany, the city of Frankfurt. As a lot of the country was destroyed during World War 2, there is only one historical square and the rest is modern and city like. We enjoyed a city view from a bridge over the river, then got some pizza at a place where they did not speak any English, which is always a fun encounter. When we got on the metro to go to the hostel, the metro randomly stopped and the driver came up to us and said it was the end of the line as his shift was over. So we got off and had to call our director to find out the best way to the hostel. It was about a 40 minute walk...single file a long a highway, where we were continually getting honked at. Get lost in Germany? Check.
